Development in Theatre & Drama | Education package

Together with a team of 4 others, I created an education package about the play The Suppliants for an assignment for our module, Development in Theatre & Drama. We stylised it as a 3 day travel guide to the ancient land of Argos, where The Suppliants is set, and it is geared towards secondary school students. We included a travel guide, tickets, postcards and other paraphernalia.

Through our work we hoped to create a package that would raise awareness of Greek theatre and highlight its relevance to our current world. We explored areas of The Suppliants such as its theme, significant dialogues, characters and more.

Dance in Performing Arts | Traditional Asian Dances Exhibition

As part of our assignment for a module, a team consisting of myself and 3 other girls set up an exhibition on Joget, a traditional dance form in Asia that was held outside of Makan Place, the biggest food court in Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

We researched and designed our exhibition, including our exhibition boards, and conducted feedback activities that enabled us to judge how effective our information boards were. Our goal was to educate the Ngee Ann students on Joget, seeing as it is a rather unrecognised dance form.

Verve 2020 E-Publications

This was another assignment - to design an E-Publication meant to engage and attract new visitors to Verve, our online arts festival.

This publication feeds bite-sized information about Verve to draw in visitors and attract performers and volunteers.

Service Learning Project

April 2020

As part of a service learning project, ABM students created video content for the children at the Chen Lu San Methodist Children's Home, in collaboration with the Singapore Kindness Movement.

We created semi-interactive art tutorials for the children to follow along from their home. My group created 2 videos that taught them how to create characters and settings via a series of drawing challenges (1st video on the right) and a world-building video (2nd video on the left).

As the video editor for this project, this was my first time doing video editing. It was a very new experience and with many rounds of vetting from both my lecturers and the representatives from Singapore Kindness Movement. Through the many rounds of editing, I was able to learn a lot - not only did I hone my video editing skills, I also learnt a lot about how content for those of our target age group should be adjusted accordingly. There is a specific way children consume media, and the content should reflect that. Given the short timeline of the project, my group and I were pleasantly surprised by the product as well as the reception to it! It was heartwarming and fulfilling to hear that the children enjoyed our programmes, as well as interesting to see how we could still impact others positively from such a distance during COVID-19.

OH' VERVE DRIVE
2020

Project | 05

As part of Oh' Verve Drive, a fundraiser for my diploma's annual community arts festival, we sold watercolour workshops with kits and materials to go along with it. As the video editor for this paid workshop, I had to put together a proper instructional video for those who purchased this watercolour workshop. With the help of my teammates and the teacher of the course, I put together a monetised watercolour tutorial with the items that we sent out.

This was overall a new experience, because I was still unfamiliar with video editing, let alone making an instructional video that could be a product for sale. This experience pushed my video editing skills to better standards, and taught me how to work and learn under a lot of pressure. I was editing for a wide range of audiences and had to keep that in mind while reviewing the different kinds of footage available to me. It was important to make this video clear-cut and easy to follow, as well as to keep it concise. Given the amount of time to prepare this video and the relative lack of experience, I would say that putting this video together has taught me a lot about video editing.

Videos Under the Singapore
Symphony Orchestra

March 2021 - September 2021

As an intern with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO), a large part of my responsibilities involved editing and putting videos together. I helped with creating short clips and videos, as well as trailers for the SSO and its affiliated groups. I have attached 4 of the videos I have edited for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra - trailers for the 27th Singapore International Piano Festival, 2021's National Piano & Violin Competition, and VCHpresents'  20/21 season, and finally, a Call To Vote video encouraging viewers to vote the SSO for the Gramophone's Orchestra of The Year.

These were edited with Final Cut Pro X, which I managed to pick up during my time with the SSO. These videos are edited with a heavy reliance on the music and timing of the individual clips. A lot of my videos intend to evoke emotion from the viewers as well, to convince them to react to the call to action that these trailers have. For example, the NPVC video, which was calling for participants, featured moments onstage with moments of passionate playing. By including those clips, I was aiming to remind viewers of the feeling of being onstage and the passion they feel when playing their instrument, hence encouraging them to return to the stage during the NPVC.

Singapore Symphony Orchestra

March 2021 - September 2021

As an intern with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO), I also created visual collaterals! These ranged from thumbnails to EDM banners and Facebook event covers. Here are a few samples of the things I have designed for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

A Gift to the Universe – Celebrating Bach III (Online)

Did you know? Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 was included in the Voyager Golden Record, aboard two space probes launched by NASA in 1977, currently crossing the interstellar expanse beyond our solar system. SSO’s performance of this timeless piece will premiere on SISTIC Live, 21 May. We invite you to watch our rendition of humanity’s mark on space. Don’t miss the Concerto for Two Violins in D minor either – performed by Chloe Chua and Ye Lin, and conducted by Darrell Ang.

Join us online in listening to Bach’s own Gift to The Universe.

Copywriting Under the Singapore Symphony Orchestra

March 2021 - September 2021

During my internship, I expressed an interest in learning more about copywriting, which the Singapore Symphony Orchestra kindly obliged. Under their guidance, I have managed to write a few copies for a few of their Electronic Direct Mails.

Here are a few samples of what I have written!
