INTERNSHIP

Singapore Symphony Orchestra |
Marketing & Communications Intern

March 2021 - September 2021

For my internship module in the last year of my polytechnic education, I took on an internship with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO). This internship was with the Marketing & Communications department. I had the opportunity to try many new things during this internship, as well as experience and observe the inner workings of Singapore's national orchestra's marketing department. I have gotten to help with many things, the most significant being video editing and copywriting. I edited short videos such as trailers for the SSO (some of which can be found in the Work Samples section of this portfolio), and wrote a few copies to be included in the SSO's Electronic Direct Mails.

This experience has given me deeper insight with the classical music scene - not just in Singapore, but around the world as well! Being able to see how a company such as the SSO has worked around the COVID-19 pandemic has definitely been a very different experience that has taught me how to be adaptable. Having been exposed to a new professional environment, I believe the SSO has been an avenue for a lot of personal growth as well. Other than an improvement in video editing, the efficiency of the way they run things has been a great takeaway for me as well.

Singapore Book Council | Marketing Intern

June 2020 - August 2020

As a marketing intern for Singapore Book Council, I help with tasks such as copywriting, and fill in the gaps where needed, such as assisting them with the filling in of their electronic mail database. I also help with organising documents in preparation for the Asian Festival of Children's Content.

This experience has given me a proper look into Singapore's literary arts scene and its industry, and a good look at how Singapore's arts companies are adapting to having to shift online, especially with organisations such as Singapore Book Council that have many festivals every year. It has also exposed me to more different working styles and management and organisation structures.
